Hebrews 13:1-3 The life of faith is one of true humility. For us who have known the mercy of our Savior King Jesus, we cannot help but reflect humble service in our daily lives. Such humble service is evident by LOVING THOSE known by us and near us, and THOSE who are sufferers!
Daily living can be difficult. God’s people bear many burdens. Jesus has already born the heaviest burden and promises to carry the rest. How is that possible? Pastor John Mattek will tell us in his Sunday message. His sermon “Bearing Life’s Burdens” is based on Matthew 11:28-30.
It is logical for us to think that following Jesus will always make others happy. That is not the case. Jesus said that his mission on earth would kindle a fire. Part of the fire is the division that Jesus brings. How are we to handle the fact that families and friends will be divided by the message of Jesus? Read Luke 12:49-53.
James 5:1-6. Often the Biblical term “riches” is misunderstood. We limit that term to having a lot of money. It’s not that simple. The term “riches” refers also to our attitude toward money, to how we appraise, acquire, and apply our earthly goods. We all need to listen as James speaks of THE CHRISTIAN AND RICHES. Please join us on Sunday.
The Power of Prayer Read James 5: 13-18
The subject of this week’s text is the New Testament Church, the reborn Jerusalem. Since many take potshots at the church, this is a golden opportunity to defend God’s institution and remind each other, followers of Christ, to support the work of his church because—“GOD STILL BLESSES JERUSALEM!” Read Isaiah 66:10-14.
The best medicine in the world is the forgiveness of sins. To know that you are covered in the blood of Christ has great significance for this life and the life to come. Find out more this Sunday. Read Psalm 32 to learn about the “Cover That Really Covers.”
Faith rejoices in God’s provision. Does your faith rejoice in the prospect of death? How about your own death? How about the death of someone you love? Read I Kings 17:17-24
